Helen Skelton: Twitter Is A ‘Necessary Evil’ Until Its Used Responsibly

Helen Skelton, former Blue Peter Presenter, believes that Twitter is a “Necessary Evil” until it gets used in a responsible manner. She also admitted to have been angered by comments on social media adding that she is hopeful future generations will be able to use technology in a more productive manner.
Skelton, who quit Twitter back in 2012 during the London Olympic, claims that “She did not have a thick skin” and thus she had to deactivate her account.
“I think Twitter is a necessary evil now,” she said. “We have a rude saying in our house that I can’t repeat, about how only ‘certain people’ use Twitter.”
Skelton, who is expecting her first child, said that she is not that concerned with next generation of social media users.
“I hope that my kids grow up realizing what Twitter is, and what it is useful for, and that’s it.
“Our generation was amazed by it and didn’t really realize what it could do – and if you play with sharp knives you will cut yourself.
“I don’t think we realised the dangers: the danger that people will read everything said about them and that would affect them. We’re human. I say to my husband ‘don’t look at Twitter’, and he says it to me. But we do.”
Skelton has been keeping herself busy of late and has just published her first book dubbed Amy Wild: Amazon Summer, a book about her adventurous travels with her aunt photographer.
